Paw Print week of January 21-25, 2019

Principal's Message

Dear Panther Families,

We started the week with a Snow Day and it continued to be chilly this week. It is definitely winter and Mother Nature seems to be sending us plenty of wintry weather this year. A huge thank you to our custodial crew for all of their hard work clearing the snow. Our team is amazing!

Safety Drills continue in the new year. We completed our January lockdown drill this week.  Staff and students did an excellent job participating in this safety drill. There are still several safety drills upcoming this year: one more lockdown drill, monthly fire drills in February-June and the annual tornado drill in March.

Please remember that next week is a short week with no school for students on Monday and Friday. Monday is the Martin Luther King, Jr holiday and Friday is the Teacher Workday for the end of the 2nd quarter and 1st semester.

We hope you have a wonderful long weekend!

Ms. Andujar and Ms. Walker

Positivity Project

This week our focus has been on the character strength of hope.

Individuals with the character strength of hope are those who are future oriented. They have a positive vision of what the future holds and maintain confidence that they will get there. They keep a positive attitude despite setbacks – and often find ways to convert what seems like an obstacle into a stepping-stone to achieve their goals. They might be described as: positive, confident, encouraging, cheerful, heartening and inspiring.

To quote Emily Dickinson, “Hope is the thing with feathers / That perches in the soul / And sings the tune without words / And never stops at all.”

Dress warm

Remember to Dress for Cold Days

It is the intention of the school to hold outdoor recess throughout the school year, unless there is precipitation falling, snow/ice on the ground, wind chill warnings or heat advisories. Please make sure your children come to school prepared to play outdoors with jackets, hats, and gloves.

During extreme inclement weather (rain, snow, ice, sleet, temperatures below freezing with a significant wind chill), Kiss-and-Ride students will wait in the cafeteria instead of at Kiss-and-Ride.

menu change

Menu Change for Wednesday, January 23

The menu choice on Wednesday is Chicken on a Biscuit. Due to the snow day on January 14, the cafeteria will be substituting hamburger buns for the biscuits.
