Principal's Message

Dear Parents,

It was so wonderful to see many of you during the last couple of weeks for the Band, Chorus, and Strings Concerts as well as volunteering in classrooms with special events!  We appreciate all that you do to support our staff and student body.  I would like to invite your child to slide in to the New Year and beat those wintertime blues with some Oak Hill Spirit!  We had some much fun with this last year that we are doing it again!  We have fun and easy spirit days planned for the month of January to keep students and staff feeling positive, healthy and a part of a greater school community.  You can see the days listed below in the calendar portion of our news.  We look forward to the fun and thank you for your support!

From the entire Oak Hill Staff, we wish all of you a safe and joyous Winter Break with family and friends.  Please let me know if there is anything I can do to further support your child’s learning and experience at Oak Hill.  My door is always open!

Sincerely,

Holly DeVore, Principal

Library News

Oak Hill students are introduced to online research through our FCPS collection of databases. Our students can safely explore and obtain information on topics of interest using World Book Kids, World Book Student, Britannica School Edition, Culture Grams, Pebble Go, to name just a few. Most students have the Online Databases bookmarked on their FCPS laptops and I encourage you to bookmark it on your home computers, too. In addition to researching nonfiction topics, your students will also find ebooks in MyOn and in National Geographic Kids. And, if you or your child are looking for a great book to read, try searching the GALE database called Books and Authors. In this database you can search for award winners and expert recommendations, plus you can filter by genre and age (adult, young adult, or children).

To access the databases at home you will need the log in.

Username= fairfax
Password= fairfax

(exception, Pebble Go is fcps for username/password)

If you have any questions about our database subscriptions, please feel free to contact Oak Hill's Librarian, Jenny Henry at jlhenry@fcps.edu.
