Reading Rally is a chance to show our students the importance of reading and how much it is valued in our school.  The Reading Committee at Herndon has planned a full-day of unique and fun reading activities, and we are so thankful to all of the teachers who actively demonstrate a love of reading. We will have a special guest author, Travis Dickason, who will also participate in “Cookies with the Author” where he will answer questions one-on-one with an exclusive group of students. This year our focus will be centered around “Hidden Truths”, which is a major topic in Travis’s book The Illusion Queen. English and reading teachers have copies of this book for students to read in advance.

Reading Rally Book Exchange

Attention All Students: Our “Book It Into the New Year” Book Swap event is coming up. Here’s what you can do: Beginning NOW, bring in your gently used books to participate in a book exchange and get some new items for your bookshelf. Look for “Book It Into the New Year” collection boxes in the main office and the library and then make sure you sign your name to be included. The book swap will take place during Reading Rally on December 21 so start bringing in those books now!
