Important News from 6th Grade Events Coordinator

There are several important 6th grade events coming up.

  1.  We would like to include 6th grade baby pictures in the yearbook and in an end of the year slide show.  Please send in a .jpg of the picture to ohes6thevents@gmail.com.  You may also send in a hard copy, but we would prefer the .jpg.  Please include the child’s name and teacher.
  2. The sixth grade basketball game is March 8th.  PTA requested volunteers at the beginning of the year, but we still need coaches for the girls team.
  3. We also need a coordinator for the end of the year after school pool party that traditionally happens at the Chantilly Highlands pool.

Please contact Merri Carnahan at 571-512-1649 or at ohes6thevents@gmail.com with any questions or to volunteer.

PE News

We have been quite busy in Physical Education. The 6th graders have been working on creating safe, age-appropriate activities for students in our school.  They are getting a behind the scenes experience of being a teacher and are designing and presenting games to their peers.  We have enjoyed working with the students and guiding them along the way.

Grades K to 5th just finished their Gymnastics Unit in which students practiced and learned many skill sets (flexibility, balance, weight transfer, rolls).  Students were also given the option to climb ropes during class.

We are currently working on our Dribbling unit with all grade levels.
