Poe Family Newsletter November 11

Kindness Week – November 12 - 16

This week is our Kindness Spirit Week. To highlight kindness, each day will hold a theme for students dress as well as a kindness challenge.

Monday is Twin Day--

We choose our friends based on their positive traits such as kindness, understanding, and being supportive. Students may select a friend or group of friends and plan to dress alike on Twin Day.

Tuesday is Hero Day--

Heroes embody the honorable trait of selflessness. Students may wear something that represents someone they feel is a hero whether it’s a real-life hero or a superhero.

Wednesday is “U”nique Day—Be “U”

This day is to celebrate students’ individuality. Students may wear something that expresses who they are, whether it’s a favorite color, a hobby or interest, or something else they feel defines them.

Thursday is “Highlighting” Kindness Day--

Break out the neon clothes! Students will be wearing anything NEON to highlight our celebration of kindness. On Thursday, we will hold a grade-level spirit competition for who wears the most neon. We will announce the grade level that had the most participation, and the winning class will be the first ones released at the end of the school day Friday.

Friday is Raven Pride Day--

We want to celebrate the fact that we have an amazing school culture. Students may show their school pride by wearing something that represents Poe, whether it’s school colors or any Poe attire.

We are excited about next week! Remind your student to get his or her outfits ready to show school spirit!

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving Celebration

Parents are invited to join their children for Thanksgiving lunch on Monday, November 12th. If you are able to come and help set up, decorate, or serve, please contact our parent liaison, Patricia Ramirez. Thank you!

On a Roll Celebration

Our students had a great first quarter and we are looking forward to celebrating our students’ success through an Honor Roll (On a Roll) celebration.  To ensure we are honoring our students in a meaningful way, we asked students to identify how they would like to be rewarded for being in the Honor Roll.    The top two selections were:  time with friends to socialize with electronic devices, and an ice cream party.  Students overwhelmingly chose “Ice Cream Party” as a form of celebration.  Students that have all A’s or A’s and B during first quarter will be invited to a celebration during Raven Time.  Sixth grade students will celebrate on November 15th during Raven Time and seventh and eighth grade students will celebrate on November 16th during Raven Time.  Student lists will be posted on Tuesday during lunches.  We encourage you and your student to check SIS student/parent view to verify grades as well.

Please contact Mrs. Aiello, Director of Student Services, at baaiello@fcps.edu should you have any questions or concerns.  Thank you in advance for your support!
