Calendar Reminder: November 5 and 6 Are Holidays for Students

As a reminder, schools will be closed for students on Monday, November 5, for a school planning day and Tuesday, November 6, for a teacher work day.

Today,  November 2, is the end of the first quarter and will be a full day. There is no early release.

Classes will resume on Wednesday, November 7.

Workshop for Parents: Executive Function Fixes

What: “Executive Functioning Fixes” presentation by Ann Dolin, Educational Connections founder, author and speaker.

School Picture Make-ups and Retakes

  • Thursday, November 15
  • This is for students who were absent or not yet enrolled on School Picture Day, September 27, or are unhappy with their original portrait and would like another taken (student must return original picture package to photographer).
  • Be sure to let your child’s teacher know if you would like a retake. 
  • Extra picture order forms are available in the school office.

Sunrise Valley Recognized by VDOE as Military-Friendly Purple Star School

Fourteen Fairfax County public schools are among 59 schools in Virginia recognized as Purple Star schools, indicating they are military-friendly schools that have demonstrated their commitment to meeting the needs of military-connected students and their families. The recognition was announced by the Virginia Department of Education and the Virginia Council on the Interstate Compact on the Educational Opportunity for Military Children.
