BOOSTERTHON

We’re only one week away from kicking off the Soaring Eagle Fun Run! Next Wednesday our 2-week fundraising program will begin, and we are so excited! We’ll start with a Pep Rally, and then your family will have time to get pledges. At the end, every student will participate in the Fun Run! This year, our goal is to raise $30,000 for new enrichment programs and technology, and we need EVERYONE’S help! You can start registering your student TODAY on funrun.com by searching our school or using our school code:  537-242. Please begin thinking about friends and family who could pledge your student for the Centreville Fun Run. We want this to be fun and easy for everyone, so think of others who can support your student as they run laps to help our school. Look for a Pledgebook to come home on Wednesday, November 7th with more information. And don’t forget to save the Fun Run Date—Friday, November 16th—on your calendar. You’re invited to come out and cheer on our students! More details to come. Thank you for supporting Centreville and have a great day!”

Centreville Honors Our Veterans

On Monday, November 12th, the federal observance of Veterans Day, Centreville Elementary School would like to honor veterans with a special event at our school.  We will have a luncheon prepared in your honor that you will be able to enjoy with your student(s) at CES.  Any relatives of our CES students who are veterans are welcome to join us in our event.

We also would like to invite you to read to students in classrooms around our building.  This is a great opportunity for our students to learn about how you have served and to show their appreciation for your service.  If interested, veterans may choose between two time slots to be a guest reader in several classrooms around the school.  Choice 1 will be 10:30am-12pm reading in classrooms and Choice 2 will be 1:00pm – 2:30pm reading in classrooms.  Lunch for all guest readers and their children will be held in the library from 12:00pm-1:00pm.

Thank you so much for your service.  We hope many veterans will be able to attend this special event at CES.  If you are interested, please sign up using this form.

This past week our students focused on Creativity!

WHAT DOES Creativity MEAN

You come up with new and original ways to think about and do things.

Creative people can look at the world in original ways. They are open to new experiences and have an imaginative and independent thought process. They generate lots of different ideas and can pursue them with energy and enthusiasm. Creativity is a process that takes courage. Anytime you share your original ideas with the world, you risk being criticized or even ostracized.

Positive psychology breaks creativity into two components: First, he/she must produce original ideas or behaviors. Second, the original idea or behavior must make a positive contribution to that person’s life or the lives of others. There are both big and small acts of creativity. Big acts are exemplified by great artists and scientists. Small acts include everyday acts of creativity, such as how people create solutions to deal with problems at work or at home.
