There are no changes to the FLE lesson objectives for the 2018-2019 school year.  For more information about the FCPS Family Life Education program, please see the detailed grade level program descriptions here

Oak Hill be sending home a Student-Parent Survey for Federal Impact Aid on October 17.  Returning this form is important because information from this survey results in an anticipated $3 million dollars in grant funds each year from the U.S. Department of Education. These funds are used to support all Fairfax County public schools and centers.

For each school-aged child in your household, please complete, sign, date, and return the survey to your child's school. If sections 1 and 2 of the survey do not apply to you, just check the box in Section 3.  All forms must be signed, dated, and returned by October 26. All results are CONFIDENTIAL.

PE News

The Oak Hill P.E. department is sharing lots of “Positive Energy” this school year.  Students are focusing on what good sportsmanship looks like and sounds like.  Ms. Croy and Mr. Herring are encouraging this behavior with a handshake for each student at the end of class.  Students are also working on cooperation skills, movement concepts, fitness components, and evaluating fitness levels through Fitness testing.  As we approach the last four weeks of the quarter, all classes will be working on Throwing/Catching and Fitness/Nutrition.  To get a sneak peek in to our classroom, find us on Twitter at @OakHill_PE.

While we have your attention, Field Day is just around the corner and we need your help!  If you would like to volunteer to help run a station or two, please sign up at the links below:

PTA News

PTA  Membership information

Thanks to those of you who have already pledged and became PTA members. We have increased our membership to 43% of our families but still have a long way to go. Unfortunately, unless we increase it further we will have to cut GRACE Arts and Cultural Assemblies for 2018-2019.  We have prioritized Staff Development Assistance so we can have quality instruction when staff professional development occurs. Unfortunately, we have to currently cut Teaching Garden and Local Field Trip Transportation costs. We need many more members to restore these and ensure we fully fund our budget needs while keeping with our "No Fundraising" promise.

We have 620+ wonderful families at Oak Hill and we hope to get 100% memberships to continue to reduce prices year-over-year while maintaining the no-fundraising promise. We invite you to get involved - It's fun and it helps everyone!

Please take a couple of minutes to register through our website and use the code: W7TNKV to Join the school.  Pledge is $65 for one child, $80 for 2+ students.

Membership has benefits => Early bird registration to afterschool programs and clubs, free directory, and pay $25 less for each of the registered programs/clubs.

On Fridays we will host "Membership Fridays" to discuss any questions and invite people to signup for PTA.  This coming Friday we will have US Arts and Bach to Rock to discuss their programs, too. Come and join us!
