We are currently enjoying the spirit
and pageantry of Homecoming 2018! Our Homecoming festivities are always a
highlight of every school year, and this year we’ve already seen a tremendous
amount of creativity from our students and staff in response to our school’s
theme: Once Upon A Tune.
As part of an exciting new initiative to share the vibrancy of our unique TJ culture with the Northern Virginia community at large, the TJ Partnership Fund is inviting a professional
filmmaker on site to record our Homecoming Pep Rally and football game on
Friday, October 12.
The footage obtained from these events will be used
to a create a series of brief, documentary-style promotional videos that
will be used to provide a window into the
outstanding and diverse community that we’re so proud of here at TJ. Our
additional hope is that the Homecoming video in particular will serve as a
lasting memory that our students will forever have access to in order to
remember one of the most exciting times of their high school career!
Foremost, we respect the
privacy of all of our students. With that in mind, if any student or
parent/guardian is uncomfortable with the possibility of appearing in such a
video (which will be available to the public), please send your opt-out request to Mr. Mark Gray-Mendes at mwgraymendes@fcps.edu who will serve
as the point person for this project. Those students who have already
opted out of appearing in such materials do not need to send a separate
request.
As always, we thank you for your support of the TJ community
and we can’t wait to celebrate Homecoming with you this
weekend.
Beginning October 16, FCPS will be asking all families to
fill out a Student-Parent Survey for Federal Impact Aid.
Returning this form is important because information from
this survey results in an anticipated $3 million dollars in grant funds each
year from the U.S. Department of Education. These funds are used to support all
Fairfax County public schools and centers.
For each school-aged child in your household, please
complete, sign, date, and return the survey to your child's school. If sections
1 and 2 of the survey do not apply to you, just check the box in Section
3. All forms must be signed, dated, and
returned by October 26. All results are CONFIDENTIAL.
