Ice Cream Social and Community Resource Fair

The annual PTA Ice Cream Social & Community
Resource Fair is this Friday from 5:30-7 pm at the Kings Glen Playground. Come
enjoy FREE ice cream while learning about after-school activities and other
community resources. Food trucks will also be in attendance. The PTA Meeting will be held at 6 pm.

Kings Glen 2018 Summer Reading Challenge
There will be a celebration for students who completed a
summer reading challenge on Monday, September 17, from 2:40-3:10 in the
library! If your child finished the challenge and has not brought in the
form yet, please remind him or her to do so.
Band and Strings Timeline and Important Dates
Weeks of Sept. 10 and 17: Outfitting and acquiring instruments for all grades
Week of Sept. 24: Band and Strings for all grades begin
instruction
Mental Health and Wellness Conference
Registration is now open for the fifth
annual FCPS Mental
Health and Wellness Conference that, for the first time, will also include an
Our Minds Matter Teen Summit for middle and high school students, sponsored by
the Josh Anderson Foundation. The conference will be held from 8:00
a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Fairfax High School on Saturday, September 29, 2018. Dr. Scott Brabrand, FCPS Superintendent, will open the conference, and Dr.
Amy Przeworski, Associate Professor in the Department of Psychological Sciences
at Case Western Reserve University, will present the keynote message: Using
Stress to Your Advantage in Achieving Academic Success and Emotional Well Being. Participants in this conference (free to staff, parents, and community
members) will be able to choose from 35 breakout options (many offered more
than once). Additionally, there will be more than 50 resource tables
available, representing public and private agencies providing wellness-related
services within our schools and in our community.
Picture Day is October 19th
Kings Glen Picture Day is Friday, October 19. If you would like to volunteer to help with pictures (half-day or full-day), please contact Claire Thomas or Leah Hettema, or call the office at 703-239-4000.
