Visitor Management System

Poplar Tree continues to use the electronic visitor management system in our main office this year in order to ensure the safety of our students and staff during the school day.  Everyone who comes into the building is required to sign in on the new system.

Every time you enter the building, you will need a government issued photo identification  in order to sign into the new system.  If you do not have a driver's license, passport, military ID or any other government issued photo ID you will not be able to sign in and enter the building.

Welcome Back Messages

As the new school year begins, please take a moment to videos greetings prepared by Dr. Brabrand and the School Board members.

These are also being shown at each of our Back to School Nights in the lobby.

 Back-to-School Nights

Monday, Sep. 17, 6:00-7:30 pm for grades 3-6

Back-to-School Night provides parents an opportunity to meet teachers, learn about classroom routines and the grade level curriculum. This event is for Parents Only. Because time is very limited, Back-to-School Night is not an appropriate time to discuss an individual student’s progress.

Back-to-School-Night Schedule:

6:00-6:25 PM: Optional Activities for Interested Parents in the café

  • Meet & Greet Administrators
  • Meet & Greet Counselors
  • PTA Information
  • ESOL Program
  • FCPSOn

6:30-6:55 and 7:00-7:25 PM: Classroom Visits

Teachers will discuss classroom expectations and important information. The teachers will have two identical sessions. The duplicate sessions are for parents who have students in two different grade levels or classrooms. You only need to attend one of the sessions for each class.

Early Dismissal Day

Wednesday, September 19th, Student dismissal - 12:25 p.m.

The lunch schedule has been modified to have all lunches completed by 12:20pm.

  • 10:15-10:45 - 6th grade lunch
  • 10:45-11:15 - Kindergarten and 1st grade lunch

 Parent Information Session

Please join our Advanced Academics Resource teacher, Kim Keleher, for coffee and information on Thursday, September 20 at 9:00 AM in the Language Arts room. This will be an informational meeting for all families K-6 regarding the Advanced Academics Program. At this meeting, you will learn about the programs and services we offer here at Poplar Tree, as well as what services the county offers. We will also discuss the Level IV referral process, for students in grades 2-6, and testing and identification timelines.  If you have any questions, please contact Kim Keleher at kjkeleher@fcps.edu.

Free and Reduced-Price Meals Application Available Online

Free and reduced-price meal applications may be completed online or by submitting a handwritten, paper application for the 2018-19 school year. Electronic meal applications are quick, easy, and available in the following languages: English, Spanish, Arabic, Chinese, Filipino, French, and Vietnamese.

Both the online application and paper application now include a designated section with the consent to share information for other programs. This update allows parents and guardians to complete the free and reduced-price meal application and the consent to share information in the same document.

Paper applications must be the original red print forms, which are available at school offices, school cafeterias, and other FCPS buildings. Copied application forms cannot be accepted.
