Back to School Nights 2018

Back to School Nights

We have had a truly outstanding opening week of school!  Many thanks to all our parents, students, teachers and staff for contributing to such a smooth launch.

Now that teaching and learning has begun in earnest, we’re ready for our Back to School Nights (BTSN). Because we are unable to accommodate parking for all grade levels on a single night, we have arranged two sessions to ensure safety and make your experience more enjoyable.

Below are the dates and times for each class, with an embedded link to BTSN information on our web page. You will find the bell schedule, fillable schedule forms and other helpful resources.

Wednesday, September 5, 5:00-7:00 p.m. for parents of 10th and 11th graders

Wednesday, September 12, 5:00-7:00 p.m. for parents of 9th and 12th graders (Note: senior parents only--college info night with counselors to be held at 7:15 p.m. in auditorium. More info will be sent soon.)

Please ask your student(s) to review their schedule with you, including travel shortcuts from class to class.  Their schedules will be available on the website as well as printed copies each evening.  If you have more than one student at TJ and cannot attend both schedules of classes, teachers will follow-up within a week with a summary of what was covered in their presentations that you missed.

Family Life Education (FLE) materials will be available in the Library. Health/PE and Social Studies representatives will be available at 4:30-5:30 p.m. in the Library to answer your questions.

IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT PARKING:

Please arrive to campus after 4:30 p.m. so we may safely dismiss all our buses and drivers. Parking on site will be available behind the school, in the bus depot between the school and the stadium, along the access road Minor Lane next to the stadium, and in the small paved lot near the ticket booth. Satellite parking will be at Holmes Middle School (6525 Montrose St., Alexandria) from 4:30-8:00 p.m. There will be two buses each night to shuttle back and forth between Holmes MS and TJ.  We’ve requested four police officers to assist with traffic flow and any other parking concerns that arise.

In all ways we are a GPS, a guide for students to explore their passions. It is our mission to inspire joyful learning while maintaining a healthy balance in life. Teachers are excited to share with you their goals and expectations, along with how they will support your child.

We look forward to seeing you at our Back to School Nights!
