Parent Vue - SIS (Student Information System)

New Parents were mailed an activation key to access SIS (ParentVue) accounts of their children in early August.  If you have not received your key, the office will be available on Monday at the open house to print off this information for you.

Open House

On Monday, August 27, 2018 – folders with information from the PTA and Chesterbrook will be available in your student’s classroom.  The folders will be distributed to the youngest of your family.  In addition, the Thursday Envelopes for all student will be available in your student’s classroom with very important information.  This will include labels for your student to wear the first week of school, Emergency Forms to review for accuracy and return to your classroom teacher by Friday, August 31st, and various other forms.

Reminder:  Please complete the Student Transportation Plan form and bring it to your child's teacher during open house. If you cannot bring it to open house, please send it in your child's backpack the first day of school. This will help ensure we are able to account for each student in a timely manner.

1st Week Student Identification Labels

Students are provided 4 labels in your welcome folder for the first week of school and instructions for completion.  Please indicate your student's name, teacher and route to and from school.

Kindergarten students will have a yellow tape marking their backpack. Kindergarten labels are also red.  This is to ensure safety for transportation home to ensure they are with an adult.  This tape is to remain in place all year.

First Day of School

We encourage all students to ride the bus, as this helps students transition to their daily transportation mode and routine. Students will be given a bus number as they exit the bus to hand to their teacher.  The teacher will then record the bus or method of transportation home. For building security, parents may not walk students to the classroom.  We will have ample staff coordinating the transfer from bus and Kiss and Ride.

While there is a new sidewalk along Kirby road, parents are reminded that Chesterbrook ES does not have a crossing guard and for safety reasons, we are not a walking school.

While we are not a walking school, we realize some children still utilize walking paths behind the school.  If you child has utilized a walking path, you are encouraged to check the safety and walkability of the area prior to the first day.

Visitors to School

All visitors must sign in at the Front Office and let the Front Office Staff know the reason for the visit.  You must have your ID (Driver’s License) with you to activate the sign–in.

Communication This School Year

Communications from our administration will come to you through the News You Choose method.  The email will come from "FCPS News You Choose" with the subject of Chesterbrook Weekly Updates.  These will be weekly or as needed to keep you informed.  If there is an urgent email or information that must be sent directly from SIS, you will get this information from a KIT message.  The KIT message may also come to you as a text message, as this is reserved for a more urgent matter.

We are excited about how things are coming together for the school year.  Our teachers are ready to meet their new students.

Wishing everyone a great start to the 2018-19 school year!

Sincerely,
Stacy Kirkpatrick, Principal
