First Day of School, Tuesday, August 28, 2018

Students should arrive at school no earlier than 8:20AM.  If your child arrives earlier, he/she will be asked to wait outside until the doors open at 8:20AM (when adult supervision is provided).  Upon entering, children in grades K-2 should report to the cafeteria and sit behind the sign marked with their teacher’s name.  Children in grades 3-6 should report to the gym and sit behind the sign with their teacher’s name.  When the buses arrive, riders will follow this same procedure.  At approximately 8:40AM or when all buses have arrived, classroom teachers will escort students to their rooms.  Parents should say their “goodbyes” at this point.  In order to maintain our security measures and to allow teachers to meet the needs of their students, parents will not be permitted in the POD areas.

Arrival After the First Day of School

Students should arrive at school no earlier than 8:20AM.  If your child arrives earlier, he/she will be asked to wait outside until the doors open at 8:20AM (when adult supervision is provided).  Upon entering, all students will wait in the cafeteria until 8:30AM.  Students will be dismissed directly from the cafeteria to their classrooms.  Parents should say their “goodbyes” at this point.  In order to maintain our security measures and allow teachers time to teach, parents will not be permitted in the POD areas without an appointment and a visitor badge.

Safety and Security

The following is a list of security measures:

  • All exterior doors will be locked during the school day. Visitors will be requested to show a picture ID to gain entry to the building. Please make sure doors are closed securely behind you as you enter and exit our building to deter “piggybacking”. Exterior doors will only be open at arrival at 8:20am and at dismissal at 3:25pm. Parents meeting their child after school will not be allowed to enter the building until 3:25pm and are asked to meet their child outside the building at a predetermined location.
  • Classroom doors are to remain locked and closed at all times. No student may return to the classroom after the entire class has left without being accompanied by a staff member.
  • Students will be required to go in pairs, small groups, or as a class when in the building or on school grounds. Supervision of students is the responsibility of all staff members at all times.
  • Visitors and volunteers are required to sign-in with the main office. They will be required to wear the appropriate badge at all times during their visit. No unauthorized individuals will be permitted on school grounds. Office staff will question visitors regarding the purpose of their visit and ask to see photo identification.
  • All staff members will wear an identification badge issued by the system. Badges will be clearly visible at all times. Badges will be worn during school hours by all non-Cub Run staff adults. Staff members are required to challenge any visitor without a badge and direct him/her to the office. We ask everyone to help with enforcing this policy. If you encounter someone in our school without a badge, please inquire, “May I help you?” and escort them to the front office.
  • For large attendance events during the day (i.e. student performances), special visitor stickers and sign-in procedure will be provided to all visitors who have previously been screened through our Visitor Management System.
  • In the event of an incident that may endanger the safety and security of a person(s) at Cub Run, the main office shall be notified immediately
