New Student Orientation- August 23

Welcome, new Colonial families!  Our Department of Student Services is hard at work planning a fun New Student Orientation on August 23. New students include freshmen, the Class of 2022, and several new sophomores in the Class of 2021.

Here is what you need to know for planning purposes:

The building will be open at 8:00 am on August 23 for you to come in and pick up hard copies of your student’s schedule for the 2018-2019 school year.  We advise you to park in the back of the building in a marked spot. There will be directional signs to door entrances and how to get to the auditorium.  The PTSA will also be set up and selling TJ gear from 8:00 – 9:00 a.m., so come get a head start on your holiday shopping!

The planned program will begin at 9:00 am and will take place in the TJ auditorium.  We have a variety of speakers who will be sharing information and words of wisdom.  At about 9:30 students will leave the auditorium and follow their schedule to meet their teachers, see their classrooms, and learn about any supplies needed.  While students are meeting their teachers, parents will have the opportunity to meet with their students’ counselors to get an overview of the IBET experience.

We anticipate Orientation ending at approximately 12:00 noon. Please be aware the PTSA is hosting a luncheon for staff immediately following the program, so we thank you in advance for respecting the time staff will take to get together with each other following orientation.

Please consult the TJ Summer Assignments Webpage here: These assignments are intended to be introductory and teachers will be able to answer any questions you have. The point of contact is listed for each course on the site.

As the administrator who will be overseeing the Class of 2022, I look forward to meeting all of you on August 23 so we can position you for joyful learning and success over the next four years!  Welcome to TJHSST!
