Sports
Highlights
Girls Varsity Lacrosse
Girls Lacrosse Wins
State Championship! Five different players
scored seven goals in seven minutes in the state championship game against
Langley giving Woodson a lead they never relinquished. Dominance on the circle
was critical to allowing Woodson possessions they needed and Margaret Stephan
delivered thirteen of nineteen wins. Defenders Sydney Andes (2GB), Rachel
Williams (4GB), Maddie Stedham, Sarah Wilson (2GB/1DC) and Annie Reeves held Langley
to their second lowest scoring for the season. Scoring came from Logan
Dougherty (4G/7A), #1 in AllMet for assists, Natalie Gates (7G/2DC), Cassia
Kruse (1G/3DC), Carlie Hartung (3G/4A) and Margaret Stephan (7G/13DC). The
22-11 state championship win followed a 17-10 semi-final win over Madison where
Woodson had six players score seventeen goals highlighting Woodson depth of
talent, including freshmen Devin Alsup (3G/1A) and Campbell Brown (1G/2A). Excellent
goalie play with Mariel Russ and Catherine Gross having four saves each, two in
the last 30 seconds of the halves. Congrats WTWGLAX!
