Challenge Success: Seeking Parent and Student Team Members

We are excited to have been accepted to the Challenge Success schools network. We will launch training and research initiatives this fall 2018.  Challenge Success provides families and schools with practical, research-based tools to create a more balanced and academically fulfilling life for kids.

Mr. Mark Forgash is our Lead Facilitator for the program. Our Co-Facilitators are Mr. Eckel, Ms. Kochman and Ms. Powell, along with a broader implementation team. 

We are inviting two parents and three students to join our team. All must be from different households to provide maximum diversity. Also, the three students selected will be one each: rising sophomore, junior, and senior.

You may familiarize with concepts and materials on the Challenge Success website. We ask interested parents and students to complete the following Google forms no later than June 15, which is the last day for students.

Mr. Forgash and the Co-Facilitators will serve as the selection committee. Notifications will be sent by June 22.

In addition to participating regularly in monthly meetings and various community education events, selected parents and students must commit to attending training at Stanford University, September 14-15, and a spring conference on May 11 in the Boston area.

All travel expenses for students will be paid for by TJ. Parents may have to bear the costs, although grant opportunities may be available.

We enthusiastically look forward to this community-based effort that will support our goals related to balance and wellness that inspire joyful learning.

 

Last Week of School Schedule

A reminder that as we wrap up our Colonial academic year, we will have abbreviated days next week. On June 11-14, we dismiss at 1:00 p.m. with busses departing at 1:10 p.m.  On Friday, June 15, school is in session for two hours, so we dismiss at 10:40 a.m. with busses departing at 10:50 a.m.

Graduation Rehearsal. The Class of 2018 sat together as students for one last time at TJ today. Thank you seniors for your contributions to the TJ community. We are very proud of you and look forward to calling you graduates and alumni Saturday evening!
