Electronic Devices During SOLs

It is important that all students and families understand the procedures that we have established to prevent testing issues related to personal devices. The computers that students need to show what they know on SOL assessments will be provided to students. The program that students will use for SOLs will be on each device and that is the only program that students will use on their assessment day.

Personal Devices on Testing Days

Leave it at home. Students are strongly encouraged to leave all personal electronic devices at home on days when they are scheduled to take standardized tests.

Lock it up. If students forget and bring a personal electronic device to school on testing day, they will be directed to turn it off and teachers will have plastic bags to label and store students’ respective devices. Devices will be returned at the end of the school day.

Consequences. If a student brings a personal electronic device into the test environment, he or she will be subject to procedures for addressing test security concerns including: confiscation of device, rescheduling student’s test session, identifying actions as attempting cheating which could affect student’s score.

Request for Career Day Volunteers

Dogwood Elementary will be hosting Career Day on Monday, June 11, 2018! The purpose of Career Day is to expose students to a variety of careers in order to educate them and inspire them to consider their future aspirations. By preparing early, students will be more likely to be college and career ready after high school graduation. Students in grades K-6 will participate in Career Day. However, we can’t do it without you! We are looking for volunteers to present during 30 minute sessions.
