Dear Stenwood Families:
For the second year in a row, FCPS is beginning school prior to Labor Day. Yes, our first day for students is August 28th! Did you know that your child’s attendance on the first day of school and the tenth day of school plays a significant role in determining the number of teachers and other instructional staff that can serve Stenwood for the school year? Our student numbers are reported to the central office on those two days, and decisions are made about whether we get to maintain our current staffing, or whether we might gain or lose staffing.
How can you help? First, please ensure that your children start school on the first day. Please plan your summer vacations accordingly. If you should have an extenuating circumstance that prevents you from having your child in school at the beginning of the year, please be sure to inform Mrs. Hunt, Stenwood’s registrar, as the specifics of your return date. This can help me build the case for maintaining or increasing our staffing. Thank you for your support with this situation.
We could also use your help with careful and courteous driving both at kiss-n-ride and our front entrance. Please be sure to follow the traffic pattern when transporting your child to school and at dismissal time—this will help ensure a smooth and timely arrival and dismissal. Also, be especially careful and aware of pedestrians along Gallows Road who cross in front of our entrance/exit. We appreciate everyone’s cooperation as it will help ensure the safety of everyone. Thank you.

Moving over the summer?
If your family is moving over the summer or will not be attending Stenwood next year, please contact our registrar, Sonja Hunt at snhunt@fcps.edu. Thank you for your help. |

Dear Parent or Guardian,
Please don't forget to pick up all medication from our health room before the last day of school, June 15, Friday by 12:00pm. Medication cannot be sent home with your student. Please note that any medication left in the health room after that time will be discarded. If you have questions, please contact Mary Ann Schall, school health aide at 703-208-7610. |

Reminder from the Library -
Parents, as we get closer to the end of the school year, we need to get all overdue library books back to the library. Last day for checkout will be June 1st. All books are due back on June 4th. Also students with overdue books will not be allowed to checkout until they have returned or paid for their items. Thank you!
