Dear Stenwood Families:
We had a great time last week at our Valentine’s Day parties. Thanks to those of you who helped contribute to their success! Thanks also for your generosity in supporting our SCA school supply drive for Graham Road Elementary. I feel very fortunate to be a part of the Stenwood community.
As I reflect on the recent tragedy in Parkland, Florida, it makes me think of our beginning of the year kick-off with staff. Many of you have seen the signs in some neighborhoods that state, “Drive Like Your Kids Live Here.” We extrapolated that phrase and as a staff committed to “Teach Like Your Kids Learn Here.” Please know that safety is of utmost priority at Stenwood, and as a staff, we pledge to love, teach, and protect your children, as if they were our very own. We have maintained a sense of normalcy knowing that many of our elementary students are not even aware of the events in Florida. If children have expressed concerns, teachers have managed that appropriately, and Mrs. Hapangama’s services have been secured. Thank you for your continued support.
Please note the enclosed information about Read Across America which is next week, February 26-March 2. We are looking forward to a fun filled week, and you can help by encouraging your child to participate each day. Follow along with us on Twitter as the students vote daily in our Tournament of Books! We end the week with a schoolwide DEAR time—Drop Everything And Read.
