From the Principal:

Dear Parents,

I am pleased to tell you we have a new Visitor Management System for our front office. This new system has been given to us by FCPS, and you will see it in your elementary and high school currently or in the near future. You will need to bring a driver’s license or passport to be scanned by the system each time you come to school. Thank you for your cooperation with this new procedure.

National School Counseling Week

National School Counseling Week, "School Counselors: Helping Students Reach for the Stars," will be celebrated from Feb. 5-9, 2018, to focus public attention on the unique contribution of school counselors within U.S. school systems. National School Counseling Week, sponsored by the American School Counseling Association, highlights the tremendous impact school counselors can have in helping students achieve school success and plan for a career. We celebrate our Liberty counselors and thank them for all they do!

Second Step Program

Next week Liberty Middle School will kick-off lessons during Lion Time classes using resources from the award winning Second Step Program. Second Step uses an engaging electronic platform to teach students about essential communication and decision-making skills.  Our first lesson focuses on “Strengthening Friendships” and “Building Positive Relationships.” Through this new Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) initiative, Liberty continues to support all students and enhance our positive learning environment.

Liberty Library Help Needed

The library is looking for assistance with wrapping books.
No experience necessary…training is provided.
You can wrap books in the comfort of your home while you relax… and watch TV possibly!  Thank you for considering.  Please contact Mary Kay or Tricia at 703 988-8196, mksnyder@fcps.edu, or pklude@fcps.edu

STEM Workshop

We extend a special invitation to middle school girls (boys are also welcome) to participate in STEMtastics 2018 to be held on Saturday, March 10 (8:00 AM - 12:15 PM) at NOVA - Annandale Campus. This event is presented by the American Association of University Women (Fairfax City, McLean Area, Springfield-Annandale, and Vienna Area Branches) in partnership with Fairfax County Public Schools and NOVA Systemic.

Online registration is open as of February 1 at mclean-va.aauw.net/stemtastics until March 4 (or earlier if capacity is reached). We suggest you register early for the best selection of workshops, as choices are “first come, first served.”

If you have questions, please look at our Frequently Asked Questions page at mclean-va.aauw.net/stemtastics/faq/. All participants who have registered and paid will receive a final confirmation email approximately 4 days before the event. Any questions can be sent to mclean-va@aauw.net

From the PTA:

The final CandyGram sale of the year is upon us.  The Valentine CandyGram sale is likely to be our biggest one yet, but we'll need volunteers to make it so.  Sales will be on February 8, 9,12, and 13 during lunch periods.  Delivery will be on the 14th during Lion Time.  Please follow this link to the volunteer site, and help us make this final CandyGram event a success.
