Physical Education Appropriate Dress Regulation Reminder:

Regulation 3210.4

"Students participating in physical education classes taught by a physical education specialist must wear shoes appropriate to the instructional activity and designed to provide support, fit securely, and prevent injury. Jewelry that impedes safe participation by students should not be worn."

Now that the weather is changing, the Physical Education Department would like to remind parents and students to check their shoes and jewelry on P.E. days in order to prevent injuries or loss. Students who are not properly prepared for class will not be able to participate on that date and will be participating in an alternate activity. Mrs. Opsut or Mr. Murphy, will be happy to help if you have any questions.

Tdap Notice for Parents of 5th Graders

Virginia Law requires that all students entering sixth grade receive a booster dose of the Tdap vaccine prior to the beginning of school. The Tdap vaccine protects against tetanus (lockjaw), diphtheria, and pertussis (whooping cough) and is usually given around the age of 11, although it can be given as early as seven years of age.

In order for your child to begin 6th grade you will need to submit a copy of your child’s immunization record showing the Tdap vaccine before the first day of school.  It is recommended that all paperwork is submitted to the school office by June 8, 2018.

A Tdap Notice was sent home with all 5th Grade students in the progress report envelope on Tuesday, February 6th.

kindergarten

Do you have a rising Kindergartner?

A 'Survey of Preschool Children' is going home in the January 30th Tuesday Take-Home envelope. If you have a child who will be 5 years old by September 30, 2018, then he or she is eligible for kindergarten. In this case, please complete the survey and return it to your child's school.
