1/26 & 1/29/18-Student Holidays

2/1/18-PTA Meeting at 6:30 pm

From the Principal:

Dear Parents and Guardians,

It is difficult to believe our first semester will be coming to an end tomorrow, January 25th. Please know our dismissal tomorrow is at 12:15 so teachers have time to complete grades. There will be student holidays on Friday, the 26th and Monday, the 29th. We begin the second semester with Lion Time on Tuesday, the 30th. This will enable to students to receive their new second semester schedules during Lion Time at the beginning of the day.

As a reminder, please remember to call our attendance line at (703) 988-8181, if your student is sick for the day. You will need to call each day of an extended absence unless there are extenuating circumstances.

From the PTA:

We will be holding our next PTA meeting at 6:30 on February 1st in the Library.  We will be discussing several big upcoming events:  Valentine's Candygrams, Liberty v. Stone Volleyball (April 6th), the Spring Vendor Fair (tentatively May 12th), and the 8th Grade Celebration/Dance (June 1st).  We have two volunteers to assist with the 8th Grade Celebration/Dance already, but we need someone to chair the event.  Any volunteers?

Another item we will discuss is the need to establish a Nominations Committee to seek people who are willing to serve on the PTA Board next year due to pending vacancies.  Some current PTA Board Members are volunteering to stay on (both Vice Presidents), but the PTA will definitely need to fill the President, Secretary, and Volunteer Coordinator positions.  One caveat:  if you serve on the Nominations Committee, you cannot serve as a Board Member.

Finally, the Liberty v. Stone Basketball event was a big success. Thanks to all that came out that night and supported our school.
