If you have not done so already, please be sure to complete the Impact Aid Student-Parent Survey and return it to school immediately. A copy will be sent home in today's Thursday folder for any student who has not yet returned a form. Additional copies can also be obtained by emailing Mrs. Pattie Ono at pono@fcps.edu. Please be assured that all forms are handled with utmost confidentiality. We appreciate your support, as we must have a completed form for every HWES student.
Ms. Villers, HWES Advanced Academics Resource Teacher, will be holding a Level IV Referral Process Information Meeting on November 30, 2017 at 6:30pm in the second grade pod (B Pod).
Everyone is invited to join and learn about the referral process.
AAP Level IV referrals are due by the end of the school day on January
12, 2018 for
students in Grades 2-6. If you have questions regarding Level IV identification or the
referral process, and cannot attend the November 30th meeting, please contact Ms. Villers at vlvillers@fcps.edu or (703)262-7454.
 The FCPS Employee Awards season is here and Hunters Woods Elementary School invites our community and staff to be part of the nominating process for our school. This year, there are several categories for awards:
Outstanding Teacher: a
teacher or librarian with 3 or more years of experience
Outstanding New Teacher: a
teacher or librarian with less than 3 years of experience
Outstanding Principal: a
building principal with 3 or more years of experience
Outstanding New Principal: a
building principal with less than 3 years of experience
Outstanding Leader: a
US-20 or above school-based employee with at least one year of experience in
the position – these positions could include School-Based Technology
Specialists, Technology Support Specialist , Assistant Principal, Instructional Coach, Psychologist, Social Worker, School
Counselor
Outstanding Support Employee: a US-19 or below school-based employee with at least one
year of experience in the position – these positions could include
administrative and office assistants, custodial staff, food service staff,
Instructional Assistants, Public Health Assistants, Public Health Training
Assistants
Outstanding Hourly Employee: an hourly paid employee with at least one year of
experience working at least 10 hours a week at the same location – these
positions could include parent liaisons, hourly office staff, other unique
hourly paid positions within the school
Before nominating one of our staff members, be sure to notify that person and get his/her agreement to the nomination.
The initial nominations are submitted through a Google form. Click HERE to access the form. The nomination form will also be available on our school website.This initial nomination will go to our school awards committee, which will choose our school winner from the submitted nominations. Nominations for Outstanding Principal will be sent directly to the Region 1 committee.
If the person you are nominating is chosen to be our school winner, you will be notified and asked to complete a more detailed and comprehensive nomination packet that will go to the South Lakes Pyramid committee as the official nomination.
After sending our winners to the South Lakes Pyramid, the pyramid winners go to Region 1 and, from the region winners, the overall FCPS winners will be announced at the annual FCPS Honors Gala in the Spring!
Nominations are due by December 1, 2017.
