We had a wonderful time meeting with all of our new students in grades 1-6 this past Friday afternoon. Our SCA officers and student ambassadors helped to plan and conduct this meeting. During the meeting we orient the new students about Stenwood and share all of our fun activities. This is a tradition I began years ago, and I’ve received great feedback. Students have shared that it helps them by allowing them to see that they really aren’t the only new student—we have 67 this year! They have also stated that it is it helpful to know about upcoming events. And parents have expressed that their children come home after the meeting and share with them that it made them feel special. I also learn a lot from our new students, as they have the opportunity to offer me advice on how I might help them as a new student to love Stenwood even more or to share one thing they really like about Stenwood. Here’s a few of their responses:

“I loved the ice cream social!”
“I like how everyone is very nice to you.”
“I love Mrs. Dammeyer’s birthday pencils!”
“I like the wide variety of books.”
We are excited to let you know that Food Services will be again hosting a BBQ for our students on October 19th. This occurs during the students’ regularly scheduled lunch time. Food Services began this tradition last school year, and the kids really enjoyed it. Be sure to ask your child about it when they arrive home that day!
