Help The Hive Ice Cream Social
Please join us this Friday for the kick-off to our Help the Hive fundraiser from 6-8pm. It's bound to be a glowing great time as we eat ice cream and have a DJ'ed glow party on the blacktop. Please join your child as this is not a drop off event and visit the PTA table to make your HTH donation! Sign up here.
Also, please remember to be respectful of our extended Stenwood community when parking on neighborhood streets.

This week your child will bring home a Help the Hive fundraiser information packet which includes basic information, prize list, and a return envelope for your donation. Students will earn class-wide prizes based on their collective contributions. Our PTA funds resources for teachers, staff and students at Stenwood and supports an amazing schedule of events throughout the year (see the full PTA budget here). Donate, donate, donate. Attention 6th Grade Parents
The school year may have just begun, but the Year-End 6th Grade Celebration will be here before we know it. If you have a current 6th grader and are interested in volunteering to plan this awesome event, please email your name and email address by Friday, Sept 22. All prospective volunteers will receive an email detailing items to be discussed at our upcoming meeting in October. Thank you.

I66 Update: Ask VDOT to Protect Stenwood Elementary School's land and the safety of our children
Please sign the online petition on behalf of Stenwood parents and supporters:
Any proposed changes to the I-66 regional bicycle trail must not allow additional land loss or open access to the school.
Gallows Road expansion plans must include safety improvements around school entrance/exit and along pedestrian path.
Construction should be planned to minimize disruption of daily instruction and testing and the negative psychological impact on our children.
Final designs should consider the long-term noise, air quality, environmental, and sustainability impact at the school with appropriate mitigations.
