Summer 2017 Reading Bingo
This school year
you’ve had loads of practice perfecting your reading skills. Let’s keep
them fresh by reading all summer long. Summer Reading Bingo begins on June
23. Bingo cards and logs will go home with the progress reports. They
can also be found at the link below and on the VRES website. Your goal is
to get bingo as many ways as you can and turn in the reading log by Friday,
September 1st to the Virginia Run ES library. Students who reach this goal will
not only be better readers, they will also earn themselves a reading
celebration! We’ll have a popsicle party and talk about our favorite
summer books! All bingo cards will be displayed and students who fill the
whole bingo board will also be named on the morning announcements for special
recognition.
If you participate in
the public library or Barnes and Noble reading programs, the books you read for
them count here too! Include them in your bingo game and just keep on
reading!
The more you read, the
smarter you grow. Let’s fill our summer with outdoor fun and great
books!
Happy Reading!
Mrs.
Siwert, Librarian
Mrs.
Bokus, Reading Specialist

Stone MS Project Panther
Stone MS is cordially inviting you to participate in the transition camp for rising 7th graders this summer on Tuesday, August 1 through Thursday, August 3 for a fun-filled three days of activities. The camp will be held at Stone MS. It costs $40 to participate and the hours will be 8:30-11:30am. Transportation will be provided from and back to each of the feeder elementary schools and the Chantilly Meadows neighborhood. The students will participate in team building activities, have an English and Math class daily, will learn to open lockers, and will meet new friends from other elementary schools. Most importantly, the students will get to know some of the teachers so that they have a relationship with a teacher on the first day of school. Please use the link at the bottom to complete the application and turn it in with payment to Stone MS to participate in this program. The program also includes a family luncheon combined with a parent meeting with teachers, counselors, and administrators on Thursday, August 3, 2017 at 11:30am. The due date for applications is Friday, June 30, 2017.
