Sports Highlights
Boys Lacrosse: State Champions!
The Cavaliers faced South County
for the State Championship on
Saturday. The Stallions started quickly, scoring twice before Solomon and
Bower answered. The Stallions and Cavs traded goals to end the first
quarter 3-3. The Cavs Yost, Miller, and Hoffman scored before Stallions
tallied with 11 seconds in first half. Cavs took a commanding lead with
Miller scoring 3 and Solomon adding 1 for a 10-5 lead after 3 quarters. South County wasn’t finished and scored a flurry of 4 goals in 2 ½ minutes
getting within 2 and had a man-advantage. Kim’s great save and Yost’s
steal stemmed the tide. There were many critical saves and possessions
for the next few minutes with key plays, by Kim, Eby, Yost, Olson, Heisley, and
Duer. Solomon then hit Yost who drilled a shot extending the lead to
3. Stallions scored with 1:51 and drew a penalty. With the game on
line Stedham had a steal and clear. Solomon held ball for all but 8
seconds and our Cavaliers are the STATE CHAMPS!
