ATTENDANCE PROCEDURE REMINDERS

IF A STUDENT NEEDS TO CHECK OUT OF SCHOOL EARLY, YOU SHOULD:

  • Bring a note from parent/guardian to the grade level office prior to 8:10 am.
  • Valid reasons include: college visits, religious holidays, planned hospitalization and required family trips (maximum of three days per year).
  • Family trips lasting more than three days must be approved by the grade level administrator at least five days prior to the absences. These absences may result in unexcused absences

Because of the number of calls we handle throughout the day, we cannot accept phone calls to dismiss your child early for appointments.  Exceptions for urgent medical appointments.

IF YOUR CHILD FEELS SICK DURING THE SCHOOL DAY:

  • Your student must go to the clinic, the clinic will contact you directly to pick up your child
  • Students should not directly contact you during the school day
  • Often a student simply needs to rest for 15 minutes in the clinic before returning to class

IF A STUDENT ARRIVES LATE TO SCHOOL:

  • We do not accept phone messages for late arrivals.
  • Parent/Guardian or Medical office must send in note with late arriving student
  • Student must check in at the grade level office to receive pass to class

IF A STUDENT WILL BE ABSENT:

Parent/Guardian must call the attendance line at 703.810.2282 to report an ALL DAY excused absence (illness, death in family, college visit, religious holiday, etc.)

“1” for the Freshman class line.

“2” for the Sophomore class line.

“3” for the Junior class line.

“4” for the Senior class line.

STUDENT PICKUP REMINDER

Please remember to send your student to school with a note if they need to be picked up prior to dismissal (2:55 pm).  Before school, the student is to take the note to their grade level office (9th and 10th grade to the Black Office and 11th and 12th grade to the Red Office).   With the note, office personnel can have your student waiting to be picked up in the Main Office.  If the school is not in receipt of a note, the school may be unable to retrieve your student from class without significant delay.  If the request is made after 2:30 pm, we will be unable to retrieve your student.  Parents will be asked to collect their students after dismissal (2:55 pm).
