PINK OUT!

Dear Stenwood Students and Parents,

Communication between home and school is also vital to a successful school experience for each child.  Please feel free to contact your child’s teacher at any time.  All teachers have voicemail and an email address.  You can find his or her email at www.fcps.edu/StenwoodES. Teachers are asked to have at least one parent contact by mid-November, and undoubtedly, many teachers have already engaged in conversation with some parents about their child.  This does not need to be in the form of a face to face conference, but can be, at your request or the teacher’s.

You are invited to attend our annual informational session from Mrs. Spinelli about the Advanced Academic Program which will occur on October 26th from 8:45-9:30 a.m.  This meeting will be held in the cafeteria.

Another fun Stenwood tradition is fast approaching…our annual Veteran’s Day Breakfast!  Please do mark your calendar if you are formerly or currently military and also be sure to invite any grandparents, uncles, aunts to our celebration.  See additional information within this newsletter.  It is an honor to recognize and show appreciation for the service of our military families.

I am pleased to share with you that our SCA will once again support our sister school, Graham Road Elementary through a donation drive for hats, gloves/mittens, and scarves (new, not used, please).  The drive will run from October 17th through October 28th.  Last year when the students were given a new winter clothing item, the principal shared that one student said it felt like Christmas to them.  Not only is this a wonderful service learning opportunity for our students, but it also makes such a positive impact on the lives of so many students who are just a short distance from our Stenwood neighborhood.   Thank you in advance for your generosity and for participating in this act of kindness managed by our SCA.

Thanks also for the kindness and patience exhibited by those of you who use our Kiss-and-Ride.  The staff members who manage the back circle really appreciate your friendly greetings and expression of thanks.  Thanks for continuing to follow the desired flow of traffic and for always adhering to practices that maintain safety and courtesy which are of utmost importance to us.

Please remind your children that October 24-28 is Red Ribbon Week.  This is a Stenwood tradition where we show our commitment to a healthy and drug free world. This campaign was established by the family of a DEA agent who lost his life in the line of duty.  See the schedule of ways to participate listed in this newsletter.

Sincerely,

Peggy Dammeyer
