Sources of Strength: Adult Mentors and Student Leaders Needed

MHS and the PTSA are bringing our students a comprehensive wellness program.  Sources of Strength is a positive, upbeat and evidence-based initiative focusing on suicide prevention through social support for teens dealing with harmful behaviors, such as substance abuse, violence, anxiety, depression, and social isolation.  Teens carrying these burdens rarely ask for help, sometimes with tragic consequences.  Suicide is the second leading cause of death among 15 to 19 year-olds.  Sources of Strength pairs peer leaders with adult mentors to eliminate the stigma of asking for help.  They bring the message of finding one's own unique personal strength to all MHS students.  Additional information and training is scheduled for Oct. 6 and 7 at MHS.  STUDENTS AND ADULTS interesting in supporting this important mission are encouraged to contact Nicholas Corsi.  Click here to find additional information on Sources of Strength

Volunteer Opportunities

The McLean PTSA is an all volunteer organization. Every program the PTSA runs is planned, funded and implemented by the creative, energetic and generous families of McLean High School. In addition to running our own numerous programs, the PTSA provides volunteer support in activities such as: Health and Wellness, Shelving books in the library, Answering phones and greeting visitors in the front office.

See below for a new request.  Click HERE to view other volunteer openings and HERE to look over the list of PTSA committees and to decide how you’d like to participate -- as a committee chair or to volunteer an hour at an occasional event. Remember, YOUR PTSA NEEDS YOU!
