Celebrate McLean

Celebrate McLean! Kicking off the school year with a community celebration

In just one week, McLean High School is having a big party and everyone is invited! Celebrate McLean! is a community festival open to ALL MHS families and all residents of greater Mclean. Principal Ellen Reilly and her school team have an urgent request for volunteers.  Our PTSA is supporting the school-hosted event with volunteers and donations.

It's an extra special school event with plenty of festive highlights, including food trucks, dunk tank, photo booth, games & activities with prizes, special meet and greets with our McLean athletes, marching band performances, face painting, balloon animals, fire engine ladder truck with the McLean Volunteer Fire Dept., a community art mural, and so much more!

But Celebrate McLean is possible only with you signing up to volunteer.  Let Principal Reilly know how you can help make McLean High School's first annual Celebrate McLean a success by signing up on this Sign Up Genius.  Principal Reilly and all the faculty and staff at MHS thank you for all your support!

Come enjoy this back-to-school celebration that puts a creative twist on traditional Highlander Kick-Off activities on Thursday, September 1 from 3 - 6 pm on the MHS Athletic Field (in the gym in the event of bad weather).

Help Needed! MHS Back to Breakfast for Teachers Aug 29th

On Monday, August 29th, its time to welcome back our MHS teachers with a friendly breakfast in the school cafeteria.  This is an annual tradition that our teachers treasure! It's a great chance to mix and mingle with the teachers and Principal Reilly's administrative team in a casual atmosphere.

Click here to view the Sign-Up Genius to see how you can help our hardworking volunteers on the Hospitality Committee.

Volunteer Opportunities

The Mclean PTSA is an all volunteer organization. Every program the PTSA runs is planned, funded and implemented by the creative, energetic and generous families of Mclean High School.

In addition to running our own numerous programs, the PTSA often provides volunteer support for other school sponsored events and activities, such as

  • Vision/hearing screening
  • Shelving books in the library
  • Answering phones and greeting visitors in the front office

Whether  you have the time and energy to chair a committee or prefer to volunteer an hour at an occasional event, YOUR PTSA NEEDS YOU and appreciates all that you do!

Parent Information Relating to Special Education

According to a recent study by the CDC, 9.1 percent of school-age children in Virginia have ADHD.  The McLean HS ADHD Forum is a new opportunity for parents to work together as they help their children manage the challenges presented by ADHD and reach their full potential.   Members can post questions and share information, insights, and tips for navigating the transition into high school and preparing for college. The forum is modeled after the widely-used forum for Arlington county.

Please visit McLean HS_ADHD_Forum and click “Apply for membership or contact the owner” to join the discussion group.  You can also send an email to mcleanhs.adhd.contact@gmail.com

There are a variety of other opportunities for parents of students who have special education needs. Many are free. Please check the PTSA Website for detailed information.
