Law Enforcement Appreciation Lunch

Great food and even greater guests graced our Law Enforcement Appreciation Lunch on July 13.  Principal Reilly and Delegate Kathleen Murphy were on hand to honor local law enforcement officers.  You - our PTSA members - came through with fantastic food contributions that were appreciated by all.  Special thanks for the enthusiastic support of our MHS Administration, the MHS Athletic Boosters and Listrani's Italian Gourmet.  Thanks to you, we served heaping helpings of gratitude to the men and women who protect our community.

Remember those crucial back-to-school packets?  You know - the big envelopes with all the forms, flyers, and information that get you organized for to start the school year?  We’re looking for five parents to help us stuff the envelopes and get them ready to mail to our school families.

It’s a lighthearted get together with refreshments in the school’s Career Center. Please email president@mcleanptsa.org for more information or to let us know if you can help on either August 3 or August 5.

Meals Tax Referendum Update

The Board of Supervisors voted on June 7, 2016 to place a Meals Tax Referendum on the Nov. 8 election ballot. Other local jurisdictions, such as Herndon, Falls Church City, DC, Arlington, Alexandria, Vienna, and Fairfax City, have a meals tax. The meals tax is a county level tax and Fairfax County would get to keep all the money raised through this tax to help fund county services. Seventy percent of the money raised would be used for education and thirty percent would be used for essential county services, capital improvements, and property tax relief. We urge you to learn more about the Meals Tax Referendum:  Meals Tax Info from Fairfax County Board of Supervisors
