Principal's Message

May 20, 2016

Dear Parents, Guardians and Students,

Next week students will begin taking the Standards of Learning (SOL) Test. The SOLs are standardized tests required by the State of Virginia and provide a snapshot of your student’s knowledge in certain subject areas. While your student may get nervous about this upcoming test, he/she should be reassured that we have been preparing by learning the curriculum and applying it in practice to do our best all year long.  The testing schedule is below:

SOL Schedule

Here are some more ways students can prepare for a successful day of testing:

1. Come to school well rested.

2. Eat breakfast or a snack before the test.

3. Relax and take deep breaths.

4. Limit distractions (such as cell phone use) before the test.

5. Read the directions and each question carefully.

6. Check your work.

7. Practice and study. The more prepared you are, the better you will feel about the test.

Thank you for your support and all you do for our students and staff!

Amielia Mitchell
