Call for Nominations - Step up to the PTA Board!
After last night's vote to amend our bylaws, your Stenwood PTA 2016 Nominating is looking for volunteers to fill the following positions for next year's PTA Executive Board:  President, Secretary, Treasurer, VP of Communications, VP of Enrichment, and VP of Social Affairs.  Please contact Sheila StewartRuby Loutfi, or Elizabeth Masturzo-Baldeon if you are interested in serving in any of the positions.

Nominate Outstanding Volunteers
At the May 10 PTA Meeting, we’ll be recognizing outstanding Stenwood PTA volunteers through two annual awards. Now is the time to get your two cents in about just who they should be!

We are looking for Stenwood's Outstanding 2015-2016 PTA Volunteer(s) of the Year and Outstanding & Outgoing 6th Grade Parent(s). In a paragraph or two, tell us about your nominee’s PTA roles, outstanding contributions to the Stenwood community, leadership qualities, and more.

Send your nominations via e-mail by 4/15 to Todd Nelson.  Please include “PTA Volunteer Awards” in the subject line.

How do you want to spend the PTA surplus?
At our PTA meeting last night, we discussed possibilities for how we might spend extra PTA funds (meaning funds leftover at the end of this school year that are not needed for getting next year's PTA started.)  Since our FCPS budget is once again in jeopardy of not being fully funded by our Fairfax County Board of Supervisors, the PTA Board voted to support establishing a fund for Ms. Dammeyer to use to support our school next year.  While a PTA cannot fund an employee's position, the PTA can fund purchases of goods for the school.  This can free up money for Ms. Dammeyer to fund part of an instructional position, providing more teaching staff for our school in the oncoming budget cuts.  This is a question for the entire membership to decide.  If you have a different idea of how you'd like to see excess PTA funds spent, please email Trish Vanstory with the idea and its approximate cost so we can present the idea at our next PTA meeting.
