Dear Stenwood Families:
We are so happy to have your children back in school with us and a return to normalcy after all of the snow! I must publicly commend our custodial staff and the FCPS Ground’s Department who did an excellent job of clearing the snow in preparation for our return. Mr. Vu, Mrs. Ramos, Mr. Huynh, and Mr. Park are simply the best!
The annual Survey of Preschool Children is being sent home with your children today. Children who reach their fifth birthday on or before September 30, 2016 are eligible to enter kindergarten in the Fall of 2016. If you have such a child, and you plan to enroll your child at Stenwood for the 2016-2017 school year, please be sure to complete the form and return to us as soon as possible. Please also encourage any neighbors who have no other children at Stenwood but do have a rising kindergartener to contact Mrs. Liz Wallen in the front office. This survey information will help us plan for the 2016-2017 kindergarten classes.
Thanks to those of you who have responded to the call to help support the school system’s proposed budget. If you’ve not taken that opportunity, please do take action now and communicate with the Board of Supervisors and ask them to fully fund the budget that Dr. Garza, FCPS Superintendent, has proposed. The proposed budget stops the cutting trend and begins to invest once again in the basic needs of our schools. Please visit www.fcps.edu/savefcps for more information on how to support our schools. Summer Learning Programs Registration Opens February 1
Registration will open on Monday, February 1 for the following summer enrichment institutes, camps, and classes: Institute for the Arts (IFTA), Elementary Institute for the Arts (E-IFTA), STEM Camp, Tech Adventure Camp, and Lake Braddock Secondary School Extended Day Adult and Community Education (ACE) enrichment classes.
Discounted tuition is available for IFTA, E-IFTA, STEM Camp, and Tech Adventure Camp through April 8.Transportation is included in the tuition for all four camps. Payment must be made with Visa or MasterCard at the time of online registration. Students should register for programs based on the grade they are in during the 2015-2016 school year.
