Virginia Breeze to Suspend Service Effective April 10

RICHMOND - The Virginia Breeze, the Commonwealth of Virginia's intercity bus serviceis suspending all long-distance intercity bus service effective Friday, April 10, 2020, due to significantly reduced ridership. As more Virginians are limiting travel only to essential trips in compliance with Governor Ralph Northam’s Stay-at-Home Order, demand is markedly lower. Monday through Thursday service has been suspended since April 5, 2020.

The Virginia Breeze is an intercity bus service operated by Megabus for the Commonwealth of Virginia, connecting Blacksburg, Virginia, to Union Station in Washington, D.C. The existing route includes several stops in the New River Valley, the Shenandoah Valley, and Northern Virginia.

“While it was our hope to continue this service for our under served communities for essential travel purposes, it is no longer feasible to maintain service at this time given the lack of demand,” said Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation (DRPT) Director Jennifer Mitchell.  “DRPT looks forward to restarting Virginia Breeze service when it is deemed safe to travel and demand returns.”

Customers who have booked a trip for travel on or before April 30, 2020, can reschedule their trip for any available travel date before September 8, 2020, at no additional cost. To request a refund or reschedule a trip, customers should contact Megabus customer service at inquiries@megabus.com or by calling 877-462-6342.
