Notice of Final Adoption of the Fast-Track Action to Repeal the Fee Requirements for Processing Applications, 8VAC20-830
|
The action to repeal the Fee Requirements for Processing Applications (8VAC20-830) will become effective on April 9, 2026. A 30-day comment period ended on March 25, with no objections to the process to repeal Chapter 830 through the fast-track regulatory process.
The fast-track action to repeal Fee Requirements for Processing Applications (8VAC20-830) is administratively necessary following the adoption of the new regulation, General Information for the Licensure of Child Day Programs and Family Day Systems and Background Checks (8VAC20-821). The repeal of the Fee Requirements for Processing Applications (8VAC20-830) does not eliminate fees for licensure applications. Instead, the new 8VAC20-821 incorporates the fee requirements for processing applications previously contained in Chapter 830 and reflects a simplified fee structure aligned with VDOE’s change to a standard two-year licensure period.
In short, applicants for licensure and licensees will still have to pay application fees once the Department begins collecting them again—the requirements have just been moved and streamlined under the new regulation. However, at this time, the Department will not be collecting application fees through December 31, 2026.
