Updates on Fingerprint Background Check Fees, Payment Guidance, and Scheduled Blackout Period

This memo is to update child day programs and family day systems on the changes to the Fieldprint fingerprinting process effective January 1, 2026, as a follow up to the National Fingerprint Based Background Check Fees memo sent June 10, 2025. The update will provide important steps that will need to be taken to complete fingerprint background checks as of January 1, 2026. Please refer to the memo below from Virginia Department of Social Services, Office of Background Investigations.
Information related to background check requirements, including instructions for completing background checks, can be found on the background checks webpage on the Virginia Department of Education's Child Care VA website.
