Child Care Provider Fairfax Regional Listening Session Postponed
The Office of Child Care Health and Safety (OCCHS) in-person listening session scheduled to take place in Fairfax on May 13 has been postponed due to the forecast calling for heavy rainfall and possible flooding. Though the OCCHS team is eager to connect with providers in person, your personal safety is paramount. The OCCHS team will work to reschedule the listening session as soon as possible and will share updates through this newsletter.
Exciting News: New Attendance Tracking System for CCSP
VDOE has procured a new attendance tracking system to support subsidy providers. We’re excited to demo the system and discuss go-live details during Virginia Alliance of Family Child Care Associations' Care and Connect call on Monday, June 2 at 6:30 p.m. All Child Care Subsidy Program providers are invited to attend and learn more!

Wolf Trap Institute for Early Learning Through the Arts leverages the power of the performing arts to provide early childhood educators with high-quality professional development customized for teachers’ individual goals and create joyful, active learning experiences for young children. Wolf Trap Institute programs are available at no cost to your school division during the 2025-2026 school year through continued funding to the VDOE.

Application Open: Excellence in Co-Teaching Initiative - Early Childhood Teams Wanted!
The Excellence in Co-Teaching Initiative aims to enhance inclusive practices for students with disabilities in the Commonwealth. The VDOE requests that division leadership nominate co-teaching partners to join the cohort. Teams should share responsibility for the achievement of all students, including students with disabilities in the general education classroom, and implement inclusive and research-based practices through active co-teaching, co-planning, and co-assessing. 2025 Content Teaching Academy: Early Childhood Special Education Beginning Educator Support and Training (ECSE BEST)
This four-day academy is designed for early-career (0-3 years) early childhood special education teachers. Academy sessions will address the essentials of teaching ECSE, including promoting high-quality teacher-child interactions, assessment, instruction, and implementation of the Division for Early Childhood Recommended Practices. Materials, lodging, breakfast and lunch will be provided for participants. A stipend will be paid to participants upon verification of successful completion of the academy. Space is limited and participants will be selected in the order they register. Those interested are to register at the link below and will be contacted to complete a formal application that includes verification of employment and administrator approval. The spring local CLASS observation window ends on May 31. Site administrators must make sure that all local CLASS observation scores are entered and verified in LinkB5 by May 31. (Note – Since May 31 falls on a weekend this year, verification in LinkB5 will be accepted through June 2.)
