Virginia Child Care Provider Scholarship Program: Summer Scholarship Applications Accepted through April 28
Applications for SUMMER 2025 scholarships will be accepted by VDOE through April 28 for the Virginia Child Care Provider Scholarship Program. Early childhood educators taking APPROVED COURSES at Virginia’s Community Colleges and accredited Montessori Certification Programs may request scholarships online. Students need to register for courses prior to submitting a scholarship application to be sure the courses they want are offered during the summer semester.
OCCHS Child Care Provider Seasonal Updates Webinar Recording
The Office of Child Care Health and Safety (OCCHS) Child Care Provider Seasonal Updates webinar is now available on VDOE’s child care website. The recording is found on the website under “Videos and Recordings.” Access the recording today to learn about recent developments and expected future advancements that impact child day programs and family day systems.
Strengthen your Skills, Improve your Child Care Business: Free Training
Child care providers can register for Strengthening Business Practices trainings with Child Care Aware of Virginia. The series supports center or family day home providers, offering resources and strategies for budgeting and planning, managing finances, retaining staff, and marketing your program to support enrollment. Virginia Preschool Initiative
Save the Date: Introduction to VAConnects for School Based PreK Programs April 22 at 10 a.m.
This webinar will provide School Based PreK programs with more information about the migration of LinkB5, VALLSS, and VKRP into VAConnects. VAConnects is a modern, secure integrated data system that connects LinkB5, the Virginia Language and Literacy Screening System (VALLSS), and the Virginia Kindergarten Readiness Program (VKRP). VAConnects will be the data system in use for the 2025-2026 school year. Registration is required. School Based Pre-K program administrators have received an email with registration link.

VQB5 - Virginia's Unified Measurement and Improvement System
Using VQB5 Data to Support Improvement
VDOE uses data collected through LinkB5, to support and practice a model of continuous reflection in dedicating resources towards targeted improvements. The VDOE works closely with Ready Regions and improvement partners to use site, classroom, and workforce data, to inform the improvement supports available to VQB5 programs.
