Updated Child Abuse and Neglect Training
|
The Virginia Department of Education is pleased to announce that an updated version of the Child Abuse and Neglect: Recognition and Reporting training was released on December 12, 2024, and is also available in Spanish. The training continues to be offered for free through our partnership with Community College Workforce Alliance (CCWA).
As a reminder, under § 63.2-1509 of the Code of Virginia, any teacher or other person employed in a public or private school, kindergarten, or child day program defined in § 22.1-289.02 of the Code is mandated to report suspected child abuse or neglect. The Child Abuse and Neglect: Recognition and Reporting training is a great resource to ensure that child care staff are adequately trained in recognizing and reporting suspected abuse or neglect.
All child care staff are encouraged to take advantage of this free training. More information about the training can be found on the CCWA website or by visiting the Training and Professional Development Section of the Department’s Child Care VA website.
Please contact your licensing representative if you have any questions.
