Virginia Preservice Training Regional Listening Session on September 18
The Office of Child Care Health and Safety (OCCHS) will host a listening session on September 18. Early childhood professionals may participate in discussions with the OCCHS concerning the Virginia Preservice Training for Child Care Staff and the work being done to promote healthy and safe practices. This listening session is most relevant for owners and staff of subsidy approved home-based and center-based programs, and licensed child day centers.

Respiratory Virus Prevention
In an effort to support a healthy respiratory season, on September 4, the Virginia Department of Health (VDH) released a Back to School Letter for child care facility administrators related to preventing respiratory viruses. Child care providers and administrators can get the latest information about preventing viruses such as COVID-19, flu, and RSV on the VDH website.
Greensville/Emporia Child Care Session – Information on Expanding or Starting a Child Care Business
Are you interested in expanding or starting your own child care business in Greensville county? Thrive Birth to Five is hosting a child care business information session. Free consultation with experienced consultants from VDOE, Child Care Aware of Virginia, and Atlantic Union Bank of Emporia will be present to assist you with getting started. VPI Local Criteria Eligibility Waiver for 2024-2025: Final Window Open Now – October 15
This is the final window to submit the VPI Local Criteria Eligibility Waiver, that allows school divisions to request more than 15% of their VPI slots use locally determined eligibility criteria. Each application is reviewed by the Superintendent of Public Instruction and VDOE staff. To complete this process, ensure access to the application in SSWS by contacting your local SSWS manager.

Curriculum Framework Modules Office Hours – September 24
Join Specialists from the Training and Technical Assistance Centers (TTAC) for an online office hours to ask questions about the recently released Curriculum Framework Modules. The online modules are designed for early childhood professionals to learn about the six key elements of a curriculum framework and how they can be used to instruct young children with disabilities. They encourage educators to reflect on their teaching practices and make changes to ensure every child receives the individualized support needed to thrive.

VQB5 - Virginia's Unified Measurement and Improvement System
VQB5 Registration - 3 Weeks Left! - Deadline October 1
All publicly-funded programs that serve children ages birth to five are required by state law to participate in VQB5 and must complete registration in the LinkB5 data portal between August 15 - October 1.
