New Resource: How to Get Help When Concerned about Your Child’s Development
When a parent or professional has concerns about a child's development, there are often questions about next steps. These two new flyers from the Virginia Department of Education are intended to support families and professionals by providing information on where to refer a child when concerned about his or her development. Parents and professionals are encouraged to act when a delay is observed by referring the child to Early Intervention or Early Childhood Special Education. The flyers can be disseminated across your community to assist with Child Find.
Register Today: Creating Connections to Shining Stars 2024
Creating Connections to Shining Stars is a collaborative effort between Virginia's Part C, Early Intervention and Part B, Early Childhood Special Education programs. The conference will focus on promoting and supporting the implementation of evidence-based practices in inclusive settings for infants, toddlers, and young children, both with and without disabilities. Keynote speaker Eric Litwin, bestselling children’s author, will share his research on happiness, including concepts and techniques found in neuroscience, positive psychology, and mindfulness.

2024-2025 VQB5 Guidelines – Board of Education Approval
Last week, the 2024-2025 VQB5 Guidelines were approved by the Board of Education . This important step in the process allows VDOE and Ready Regions to move forward with preparation for the second full year of implementation. Learn more via the links below.
VQB5 Classroom Lists Information and FAQs
Classroom lists will be included in VQB5 beginning in fall 2024. With parental awareness, classroom lists in LinkB5 connect the experiences that all children are having in Virginia’s early childhood classrooms with specific outcomes like kindergarten readiness for children who later attend public schools. The VDOE will partner with program leaders to help them inform families, understand the benefits, and learn their preferences around sharing information about their children.
