Upcoming Deadline to Provide Public Comments on Virginia’s 2025-2027 CCDF State Plan
The Child Care and Development Fund (CCDF) provides funding to states to support child care assistance to low-income working families and support the health, safety, and quality of the entire child care system. The 2025-2027 CCDF State Plan describes how Virginia will complete activities funded by CCDF and implement policies in compliance with the law, effective October 1, 2024.
VDOE is accepting written public comments on the 2025-2027 CCDF State Plan Draft until midnight on Sunday, June 16. Written comments may be submitted using the Public Comment Form or by emailing a formal letter (Microsoft Word or PDF files only, please) to earlychildhoodaccess@doe.virginia.gov.

Child Care Provider Legislative Updates Webinar on June 20
Join the VDOE’s Office of Child Care Health and Safety for a webinar to learn about new laws related to child day programs and family day systems. This webinar is relevant for licensees, owners, and directors who represent licensed programs, subsidy vendors, voluntarily registered homes, religious exempt centers, certified preschools, and license-exempt programs. Registration is limited to 500 participants, but the webinar will be recorded and posted on the VDOE child care website after the event.

Child Care Subsidy Program Health and Safety Training: for Unlicensed Child Day Centers and Unlicensed Family Day Home Subsidy Vendors
This free training will provide an overview of the Child Care Subsidy Program inspection requirements for unlicensed child care programs. Training for Unlicensed Child Day Centers is June 12 and 13. Unlicensed Family Day Home training is June 24 and 25. Early Childhood Special Education
Register Today: Creating Connections to Shining Stars 2024
Creating Connections to Shining Stars is a collaborative effort between Virginia's Part C, Early Intervention and Part B, Early Childhood Special Education programs. The conference will focus on promoting and supporting the implementation of evidence-based practices in inclusive settings for infants, toddlers, and young children, both with and without disabilities. Keynote speaker Eric Litwin, bestselling children’s author, will share his research on happiness, including concepts and techniques found in neuroscience, positive psychology, and mindfulness.
Online Training Course: IEP University (IEPU) - Available June 3 – June 24
The Parent Educational Advocacy Training Center (PEATC), in collaboration with VDOE, has developed this self-paced online training to provide families and professionals with accurate and useful information around IEP development and meetings. The training will take approximately 6 hours and can be accessed anytime between June 3 and June 24, 2024.

100% Spring Local CLASS Observation Completion!
Last week the VQB5 spring observation window closed. VDOE is proud to announce that 100% of required spring local observations were completed, in 10,658 infant, toddler, and preschool classrooms! This accomplishment represents the collaborative efforts of program leaders, teachers, family child care providers, local observers, and Ready Regions.
Thank you to everyone who helped support these efforts and stay tuned for more information about how VQB5 CLASS observations will be used to support improvement and school readiness across the Commonwealth.
