Fingerprint Based Background Check Fees and Licensing FeesÂ
In an effort to support child care providers facing financial burdens while serving children and families, the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) will continue to cover the cost of fingerprint based criminal history record searches obtained through Fieldprint through June 2024 for individuals in child day programs and family day systems who are required to be fingerprinted. Additionally, VDOE will not be collecting fees for applications for licensure through June 2024.Â
Spanish Version of Virginia Preservice Training for Child Care Staff is Now AvailableÂ
The VDOE is pleased to announce the release of Virginia CapacitaciĂłn Previa al Servicio para Personal de Cuidado Infantil. The Spanish language version of the Virginia Preservice Training for Child Care Staff is now available to better support our bilingual child care providers. The 10-hour preservice training is required for child care staff working in subsidy approved child day programs and staff working in licensed child day centers.Â

Opening Doors – Unlocking Potential 2023: Registration is OpenÂ
Opening Doors – Unlocking Potential is an in-person event bringing together professionals and parents from across the Commonwealth of Virginia to engage in dialogue, discussion, and learning methods to strengthen academic outcomes for children who are deaf and hard of hearing to increase the knowledge and skills of those who can have a positive impact on a student's educational process. This year’s theme is Evolution in Education. Priority registration deadline is June 6, 2023. Â

OHS Full Enrollment InitiativeÂ
As recipient agencies are planning for the upcoming program year, the Office of Head Start presented a Full Enrollment Initiative webinar. This initiative is designed to support recipient agencies establish innovative approaches to acquire and maintain full enrollment. Webinar highlights included goals and expectations for participants, partnering with the OHS T/TA network, and developing targeted enrollment strategies that will help to sustain quality comprehensive programming for families. VQB5 - Virginia's Unified Measurement and Improvement System
3Â Weeks Left to Complete Spring CLASS Observations in VQB5 Practice Year 2!Â
All programs that are currently participating in Practice Year 2 need to have completed a spring local CLASS observation in every classroom by June 9, with scores entered in the LinkB5 data portal. Contact your Ready Region if you have questions about local CLASS observation completion.  Â

VQB5 Participation Requirements for 2023-2024Â
