Child Care Centers and Family Day Homes
Child Care Subsidy: Vendor Agreement and Rates Data Collection - Submit by this Friday, December 16
All Child Care Subsidy vendors are asked to (1) share tuition rate data and (2) sign an updated vendor agreement. VDOE and VDSS ask all subsidy vendors to please complete these important actions by December 16. Vendors received a reminder email on November 29 with detailed guidance. If you did not receive the email, or if you have questions, please contact vendor.support@dss.virginia.gov.
Child Care Subsidy Program Resuming Copayments with a New Copayment Scale - As of January 1
Starting January 1, 2023, copayments are changing in the Child Care Subsidy Program (CCSP). Federal law requires most families in the CCSP to pay a copayment to their child care provider. During the pandemic, the federal government provided flexibility and Virginia temporarily covered all copayments. This flexibility will end on December 31. No family will be responsible for copays before January 1. New copayment amounts were mailed to families in early December and are online in the Vendor portal.

Early Childhood Training Updates for 2023
VDOE, in partnership with Pennsylvania State University - Better Kid Care and The Community College Workforce Alliance (CCWA), are happy to announce that we will be launching updated training in 2023.
Please keep a look out for updates to the Virginia Preservice Training for Child Care Staff, the Annual Health and Safety Update Training (flyer), Child Abuse and Neglect: Recognize and Reporting Training for Child Care, and Health Screening for Child Care Professionals training (flyer). These training opportunities will also be offered in Spanish.

Virginia Preschool Initiative
VPI Late Enrollment for School Divisions - Webinar on December 14
Late Enrollment, a report required for school divisions who requested Late Enrollment slots via the Single Sign-On Web System (SSWS) is due January 6. This report will collect enrollment data for the Virginia Preschool Initiative (VPI) as of December 31st. In order to support school divisions, the VDOE will host a technical webinar to review the VPI Fall Verification Report. Attendance is recommended for VPI Coordinators in divisions that requested Late Enrollment slots, or other school division reporting contacts.

The VCU Autism Center for Education improves services and supports for individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) by promoting the implementation of research-based practices in schools and the community through training, technical assistance, research, and collaboration. While the name has changed, the focus is still on excellence!
VCU Autism Center for Education: Just the Basics Online Training Course
The VCU Autism Center for Education (VCU-ACE) provides free, online training courses for educators. This course is designed for educators who want to improve their practices in early care and education for young children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Participants will work through modules that include videos, text, and presentations from ASD experts. At the conclusion of this course, participants will be invited to access further learning from ACE. Please register by January 9.

As a Fall Refresher, VDOE has released a pre-recorded webinar which focuses on the multiple ways Virginia provides options for access to quality early childhood curriculum options in VQB5.

Call for participation in the VKRP Teacher Survey
The UVA CASTL team invites all PK3 and PK4 teachers who participated in the fall VKRP assessments to provide feedback. Unique survey links were sent to VKRP account email addresses on November 22, and the survey takes approximately 15 minutes. Complete your survey before the end of the year! All teacher respondents will be entered into a drawing mid-January to win a $50 gift card. 700 gift cards will be awarded – high chance to win! Email vkrp@virginia.edu with survey questions.
Early Learning and Development Standards (ELDS) Introductory Micro-Credential registration is now open!
Available at no-cost, this 5-hour, non-credit bearing, online, self- and competency-based micro-credential is an introduction to Virginia’s early learning standards. Enrollment is prioritized for Family Day Home and Child Care providers, and open to all publicly-funded early childhood professionals. Note: No completion stipend will be awarded; PD certificates available upon completion.
