Notary Requirement has Been Removed from the Virginia Central Registry Search Request
The Office of Background Investigations (OBI) recognizes the hardship providers and individuals are facing with the Central Registry Search requests. In an effort to make the request process easier, an emergency change to the regulatory statute requiring a notarized signature for the Central Registry Search form was initiated and signed by Governor Youngkin in September. Those providers using the new automated portal should have already seen the notary language removed in the instructions and from the downloadable form. A hard form revision is in progress and will be posted publicly in the weeks to come. All questions should be submitted to crs_operations@dss.virginia.gov.
