SUBJECT : VQB5 2022-2023 Practice Year Registration Now Open!
This memo seeks to inform you that registration for the 2022-2023 VQB5 Practice Year is now open! Your program is invited and encouraged to participate. Registration for VQB5 Practice Year 2 takes place from August 1st through September 16. You can register by contacting your local Ready Regions leader.
VQB5 is Virginia’s New Unified Measurement and Improvement System. As a reminder, All approved subsidy vendors that care for children between the ages of birth to five will be required to participate in VQB5 beginning in August 2023. The 2022-2023 VQB5 Practice Year is the final chance to practice before this legislative requirement goes into effect.
VQB5 supports quality improvement for all publicly funded birth-to-five classrooms. As part of VQB5, your program will receive feedback and support on two nationally-recognized quality indicators: Interactions (measured through CLASS observations) and Curriculum. Starting this year, VQB5 will replace Virginia Quality (VQ).
How can I prepare for VQB5?
You can prepare now by participating in the 2022-2023 VQB5 Practice Year. Contact your local Ready Regions to register. All programs must register by September 16 to participate in the 2022-2023 practice year.
Approved Subsidy Vendors that participate in the 2022-2023 practice year will receive:
- Training and support, including CLASS training and resources, to strengthen quality.
- Eligible teachers and assistant teachers will receive up to $2,500 through RecognizeB5.
- A “practice VQB5 rating” for site leaders in fall 2023 (practice ratings are not posted publicly).
Am I required to participate in the VQB5 Practice Year?
- Participation in this 2022-2023 VQB5 Practice Year is strongly encouraged for all subsidy vendors, but not required. Subsidy vendors will be required to participate beginning in August 2023.
