Free Admission to Man Ray’s Portrait Photography Exhibit at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts!
Governor Northam has announced free admission for state employees and teachers to the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts’s (VMFA) exhibition Man Ray: The Paris Years. All early childhood educators, from both private and public settings, can attend the exhibit at no charge through February 21, 2022.

Apply now for the Child Care Stabilization Grant Program!
VDOE is extending the first-quarter deadline for the Child Care Stabilization Grant Program to Friday, December 10. All eligible providers must apply by December 10 to receive the maximum funding, even if you received funding through a previous grant program. Find more information about the program, including how to apply, at doe.virginia.gov/childcaregrants. You can also find webinar recordings, resources, and technical assistance opportunities from our partners at the Virginia Early Childhood Foundation at www.vecf.org/arpa.
Virginia Child Care Scholarship Program - Spring 2022 Application Window
The Virginia Child Care Provider Scholarship Program is available for child care program staff (center-based and family child care). The program pays for 2 classes a semester and there are no out-of-pocket costs for the student upon award. The application period for Spring 2022 ends tomorrow - December 1. 2021. COVID-19 Vaccines Now Available for Children Ages 5-11
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration FDA has authorized a COVID-19 vaccine for children 5 through 11 years of age. Children ages 5-11 years old are eligible for the Pfizer-BioNtech COVID-19 vaccine. The vaccine is available free of charge. To find a vaccine, search vaccines.gov, text your ZIP code to 438829, or call 1-800-232-0233 to find locations near you. Contact your state, territorial, local, or tribal health department for more information.
Child Care Staff Eligible for 'Booster Shot'
Effective November 19, 2021, the Centers for Disease Control has expanded recommendations for booster shots to now include all adults ages 18 years and older who received a Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna (mRNA) COVID-19 vaccine as part of their primary series. More information regarding the CDC's recommendations for vaccines may be found here. The Virginia Department of Health has provided additional information here.

The Inclusion Project Mini Grants (Partnership for People with Disabilities at Virginia Commonwealth University, VCU)
The Inclusion Project is pleased to announce it is offering up to three mini-grants to support schools interested in planning an Inclusion Project event. Applications can be from any school, preschool, child care center, or community organization working with children aged 2 – 22.

This FREE self-paced online course focuses on providing information for parents with infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. Topics include the importance of parents as 1st teachers, early childhood services, special education, resources available to parents of young children with disabilities, and more!

Supporting the Wellness of All Staff in the Head Start Workforce
The Office of Head Start (OHS) recognizes the importance of the early childhood care and education workforce who have continued to provide comprehensive services to children and families as we continue to navigate the pandemic. In response to ensuring the wellness of all staff members OHS shared an Information Memorandum ACF-IM-HS-21-05 Supporting the Wellness of All Staff in the Head Start Workforce that offers strategies for prioritizing staff wellness and how to utilize funding from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) to support these efforts.

VQB5 - Virginia's Unified Measurement and Improvement System
Updated Overview of VQB5 Documents
The VDOE has recently updated the Overview of VQB5 document to reflect the progress that has already been made during Practice Year 1. This two-page overview provides a summary of the Who, What, When, and How questions for the new Unified Virginia Quality Birth to Five System (VQB5).
